The Bit About Me...

In one way and another I've been a writer all my life,  from the moment I scrawled an expletive up on the chalk board at infant school, using the teacher's chalk - and was suitably scolded for it! In some ways I guess that set the tone for the future, as my books and screenplays attest.

Indeed, my professional journey began in much the same vein, in the independent print media, where I specialised in investigative journalism and was senior editor of several independent high-street rags and mags in the 1990s (see bio below). For my sins I did my fair share of radio and TV back then, too.

But when in 1997 the opportunity to write a proper book with a proper publisher presented itself I happily detoured into hardback and paperback, from where it seemed the most natural thing for me to ultimately segue into screenwriting. I'm glad I did. I like screenwriting. I like it a lot. Over the years I’ve written numerous original screenplays and even more for other people – producers, directors, arts councils (including the now-defunct UK Film Council), and have ghosted and/or revised/edited for a string of other writers, too. You might say I'm the guy behind the scenes who no one sees. And frankly I quite like it that way.

My Bio

Okay so I'm a bestselling author and optioned screenwriter with a background in music and journalism, having been Senior Editor of several high-street magazines in the 1990s and early 2000s -- UFO Reality Magazine (1993 - 1998), Odyssey (1998 - 2000) and Xtreme (2000 - 2002).

As a screenwriter I've worked with a mixed bag of talented directors, including Simon Fellows, Kevin Connor, Stuart Baird, Emmy Award-winning and Oscar-nominated director, Tim Conrad (Jimi Hendrix: A Perfect Murder; Ten Days to Victory; Hatton Garden; To Be Someone); Bafta-winning director Lee Salisbury (Eastenders; Emmerdale; Nicked!) and the UK’s top commercials director, Ben Jones.

I've also produced and/or directed my fair share of high-quality music videos.

As an author I'm best-known for my three bestselling books on the death of Princess Diana—but that, as the savant once said, is altogether a different story.

For the record, I'm also a vastly experienced public speaker, having guested on countless TV and radio shows in both the UK and America, including BBC’s Good Morning; ITV’s GMTV and This Morning; Channel 4’s Richard & Judy; Talk Radio's The James Whale Show and numerous other national and regional radio shows.

I've also appeared in and/or consulted for numerous documentaries and given talks on various subjects at conferences and book signings globally. So there you have it!

Formerly from London,  I now live with my wife and a constantly fluctuating posse of cats in Somerset.
